RM Oct 1904 p353: "The passenger traffic of the East and West Yorkshire Union Railways is not likely to excite the envy of other similar small lines. It has in fact been so disastrous that at the last half-yearly meeting the Chairman announced that it would be discontinued. The railway has been losing £200 monthly by its passenger traffic."
RM Nov 1904 p440: "The passenger train service between Leeds and the Rothwell district on the East and West Yorkshire Union Railway has been stopped. The failure of the service is attributed mainly to the development of the electric tram system which covers the district."
